Educational and methodological work of foreign languages teachers
of Syktyvkar State University (1972-1991)

In soviet higher educational institutions teachers did both training and methodological work. The need for teachers’ methodological work was caused by the absence of teaching materials and also by some peculiarities of pre-university training. The author on the basis of archive materials describes educational and methodological work of foreign languages teachers of Syktyvkar State University. In comparison with central higher educational institutions training and methodological work of the teachers of the Foreign Languages Department at Syktyvkar State University had its own specific. The author points to the fact that at first its goal was to create at least minimum training and methodological base to work with students. Step by step foreign languages teachers began to develop all the necessary teaching materials. The article is supplemented by a register and description of teaching materials prepared by foreign languages teachers of Syktyvkar State University during the first twenty years since the foundation of the university.
