The evolution of the taxes of former state peasants of European North of Russia at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries

(on materials of Ust-Sysolsky uezd)

Abstract

At the turn of the XIX - XX centuries in the Russian countryside there are important changes associated with the rapid development of capitalist relations in the country, on the one hand, and the government's attempts to maintain its diktat towards the peasantry through the preservation and strengthening of the outdated institution of the peasant community. Changes occur in the area of taxes and state duties, which the peasants had to pay and perform. The article is devoted to the study of such changes. For the first time on a large archival material comprehensively reviews the history of the evolution of the state, rural and "worldly" taxes and fees, as well as state duties on materials of Ust-Sysolsky uezd of the Vologda province.
