Some remarks on the Dolgan-Russian Card Dictionary compiled by K.M. Rychkov in the early 20th century

Abstract

The Dolgan-Russian Card Dictionary (1534 cards) compiled by K.M.Rychkov well reflects the situation of Dolgan (a Turkic language) in the Turukhanskij region (Tajmyr Peninsula) in the early 20th century. In this paper, among many unique Dolgan word forms in the dictionary, we focus on entries with accent positions that are different from the norm of today’s Dolgan language and we argue these deviations may be related with the complex process of Dolgan language formation in northern Siberia.
