Abstract. The archaeological cultures of the Eneolithic - Bronze and Early Iron Age which sites have been distributed in the Arctic and subarctic zones of the European Northeast are characterized, problems of the origin of the cultures, ethnocultural contacts of the population that have left them, are considered, the interrelation of development of the region with environmental conditions is shown.
