Ethnic policy models of Norway in the provinces of the Far North*

Abstract. The recent events have largely influenced on the Norwegian state policy towards migrants. The paper presents changes in the ethnic policy model of Norway in terms of increasing migration. The Northern provinces of Norway Finnmark, Troms and Nordland are in the focus of the article. These areas have a complex ethnic composition; and the state has to distinguish its ethnic political approaches towards indigenous communities (Sami) and migrants to combine democratic principles with the needs of integration of new citizens.
