The city of Ust-Sysolsk in the first years of its history:

essays of history

Abstract. The small provincial towns that emerged during the provincial reform of Catherine II had their own prehistory and the history of the first years of their existence, when the process of transforming rural settlements into cities, the administrative centers of counties, took place with all the ensuing consequences. The article analyzes the specific situation that was taking shape in the newly established city of Ust-Sysolsk, the center of the same-county district in the 1780s - 1790s. For a better understanding of the process of transformation of a rural settlement into a county town, the article lists the most important processes in the history of this rural settlement (the prehistory of the city).
