Little-known pages of the revival of Orthodoxy
in the Komi Republic (1990's)*

Abstract. The process of the revival of Orthodoxy in the Komi Republic at the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, parallel to the last period of the existence of the Soviet state and the first periods of the construction of the Russian Federation, has many different sides. Some of them are fairly well known, others are almost unknown to both researchers and the mass reader. In this article three essays are published: about the return of the Church of the Holy Ascension (in the city of Syktyvkar (the capital of the Republic of Komi)) to the property of the Russian Orthodox Church (1989-1991); about the creation and work of the Orthodox Guardianship Council of the Komi Republic (1995 - 2000); about the reception of the holy relics of the Holy Martyrs Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna and the nun Varvara in Syktyvkar (2005). The second and third essays were created by the author as a participant in these cases on the basis of personal records, memoirs and documents deposited in the personal archives of the author.
