Abstract. The development of agriculture and cattle breeding is primarily characterized by the size of arable and haymaking land per one peasant yard. In the article, the author cited information on the average size of arable and hay land per one peasant yard in each settlement recorded in the scribal book of 1585-1586 in all four large districts of the Komi region of the time: Vychegda land-volost, Sysolskaya land-volost, volost Uzhga and the volost of Glotova sloboda.
