Trends in the development of Veps literature at the beginning of the ХХI century

Abstract. At the turn of this century, the new opportunity opened up before the authors writing in the Veps language to harmoniously blend their literary art with the fundamental issues in the life of their people, express the people’s aspirations and desires, their notions of what is fair and beautiful. To some extent, the Veps-language literature in this period in history was living through the stage of accelerated development that other newly-scripted literatures of the Soviet Union went through in the 1920’s-1930’s. Thematically, the works of contemporary Veps writers are primarily centered around the native land, native language. There is love lyrics and poetry about family relations, as well as poetry based on oral folk art.
