Reforming the secondary specialized education system
in the RSFSR in the mid-1950s: causes and consequences

Abstract. The fact of reforming secondary specialized education in the RSFSR in the mid-1950s has long been known in historical literature. As a result of the reform, a large number of secondary specialized educational institutions were closed. Particularly strong reduction affected teacher training colleges. The article provides documentary evidence of how decisions were made to close teacher training colleges, and what was the reason for this event, which affected hundreds of teachers and thousands of students.
