E.K. Pekarsky: myth and reality

Abstract. The article examines the biography of the famous scientist philologist, ethnographer, folklorist E.K. Pekarsky. Using various literary and archival sources, the author gives a modern interpretation of some distorted facts of the biography of the scientist. The problem of creating a complete scientific biography of the Honorary Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences Eduard Karlovich Pekarsky (1858-1934) is being actualized.
