Problems of publishing mass documents of the XVII century

Abstract. Russian historical science has achieved great success in the publication of population registration documents (clerical and census books) of the 17th century. At the same time, such important sources as private legal acts of the peasant and rural population, as well as such important lists of cities and counties of the Moscow kingdom of the XVII century as important for the study of many aspects of Russian life of the specified time, remain beyond the attention of historians. The author tries to attract the attention of researchers to this type of document and shares his experience in publishing such sources on the history of Russia of the 17th century.
