Abstract. Memoirs recorded in 2015 and partially published in the book: My University: the charm of the past and thoughts about the future. Petrozavodsk, 2015. This publication presents an extended version of the recorded interview, relating to the period of life until 1950. The text is accompanied by photographs and scanned copies of documents of the 1940s, as well as archival recordings of M.I. Shumilov’s hand made during the period his professional career as a historian.
